Another of those travel essentials that we often forget to have in the car, that you know you really should. A decent car pump. Why did we choose this one to tell you about?

• It’s compact and beijou  – weighing in at a little over 1kg. It won’t take up half your boot space.
• Easy to use – simply plug into your 12v socket (ciggie lighter) and attach the valve end to your tired looking tyre.
• Here’s the good bit – preset the required pressure on the LCD, and press the on button. Then sit back and voila, within a minute or two its’s done. The nice thing is it will turn off automatically when it reaches the correct pressure. Sweet as!
• It does make some noise – it is basically a compressor but you won’t get a burst eardrum.
• It’s even got a torchy bit so you can see what you are doing if you have to use in the dark. And a nice little bag to keep it in.
• Best on small to medium cars, or if you don’t have a flat tractor tyre.
